Message from the Chamber President, March 2019

I’m honored to serve the Sunland Tujunga Chamber of Commerce, I’m lucky to be a member of the Board with these excellent women & men dedicating their time to their community.

I look forward to a year where your Chamber gives back to you, bringing new business to town, helping existing businesses thrive and utilizing our network and connections to obtain our share of City, County & State funding to the betterment of our assosciation members and community as a whole, in 1933 our by-laws stated simply that the Chamber’s objective was to “advance the economic and social welfare of the community.” The cost of membership in those early years amounted to annual dues that cost $1.00 a year.

Message from the Chamber President, March 2017

Spring is in the air and I have enjoyed all the rain we have had and the flowers that have been popping up all over Sunland-Tujunga. All the new growth is beautiful to see, including the ten new members who joined the Chamber in the past month. I’m excited to personally meet them all and support their businesses in one way or another. The Chamber also welcomed two new board members, Janelle Hussion of Mobile Notary Service and Sergio Soto of Grocery Outlet of Sun Valley. Welcome to our Chamber; we look forward to your fresh ideas!

We recently presented our March networking mixer that served as a Kick-off to the Spring Carnival. The mixer was co-hosted by YMCA of the Foothills and Castle Construction. The event received great attendance and was a spectacular success! Castle Construction provided the delicious meals and sweet treats and the YMCA provided special membership deals and festively decorated the facilities. Attendees that participated in the raffle prizes walked away with lottery tickets and other fabulous gifts — a definite memorable experience for winners. If you missed the Link N Hops grand opening, the community has another chance to mingle with the fun crowd during our April 19th networking mixer; you won’t want to miss out!

This month, we also welcomed a relocated business into the chamber community. Modest Fly Art Studio Gallery, which is now located on Commerce Avenue, hosted their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at the beginning of the month. The chamber members in attendance boasted about Modest Fly’s wonderful hosting! The next two Ribbon Cutting events will be at the new Fatburger & Buffalo’s Express in Lake View Terrace and at Los Angeles Mission College’s Sunland-Tujunga campus.

With only two weeks until the Spring Carnival, we are diligently working daily to make sure all games, vendors and rides are ready to go. All attendees are guaranteed a fun time! Feel free to share the info on the banners and fliers that are up around town with your local friends and family. Sponsors from around town have all supported us and allowed us to pay for our permits and make this a memorable event for all the community children. We are still looking for bands and performers for Saturday evening as well as volunteers for both Saturday and Sunday. Please contact us to be a part of this fun family event!

Amongst all this planning and events, I still found time to support our other local committees and attended the STNC meeting, the CV Chamber Smart-a-thon at the USC Medical Hospital, and the Montrose Chamber of Commerce Installation and Awards at the Oakmont Country Club. I look forward to seeing you all at the Spring Carnival!

Thank you,
